Industrial wood shredder: Process Mixed Wood Waste Without Pre-Sorting

Got a yard full of pallets, logs, branches, and demolition lumber with nowhere to send it? An industrial wood shredder is built for exactly this. Feed in almost anything wood-based, get consistent chips out — no pre-sorting, no manual nail removal, no secondary passes.

The right industrial wood shredder handles material that would jam or damage a standard chipper: nail-embedded pallets, root balls, mixed offcuts. That’s the core difference between a general-purpose chipper and a machine designed for real-world waste processing conditions.

What Goes In

Where most wood crushing machines struggle with mixed or contaminated material, an industrial wood shredder handles it without issue. Accepted inputs cover solid logs up to 600 mm in diameter, wood pallets (nails included), construction offcuts, tree roots and branches, and light metal-embedded timber. The hydraulic feed system adjusts automatically to irregular shapes and varying densities, so operators load material and let the machine do the rest.

What Comes Out

Output is uniform wood chips, typically under 100 mm. An adjustable screen (8 mm thick) controls particle size — oversized chips recirculate automatically through the cutting chamber until they pass. A magnetic roller at the discharge point pulls out nails and metal fragments before chips hit the output conveyor. What you get is clean, metal-free material ready for downstream use.

End markets include biomass fuel, wood pellet production, paper pulp, particleboard and MDF, charcoal processing, and agricultural mulch. Swap the screen, change the output spec — same heavy-duty wood waste shredder, different product.

How It Works

Wood enters via the infeed conveyor (6 m standard). Three hydraulic rollers grip the material and force-feed it into the cutting chamber. If resistance spikes, the hydraulic system briefly reverses and re-engages — no operator intervention needed.

Inside, two blade types handle different materials: claw-tooth blades for nail-embedded and mixed waste, knife blades for clean timber. Both fit the same machine frame. Chips that meet size spec fall through the screen to the output conveyor; oversized pieces loop back automatically. The whole cycle is self-contained.

Specs

Three models cover the range from mid-scale recyclers to high-volume processing lines. Each industrial wood shredder model ships with standard 6 m input and 8–10 m output conveyors.

Real-World Results

A pallet recycler in Southeast Asia was stripping nails by hand before feeding their old chipper — a constant bottleneck. After switching to the SL-1400 industrial wood shredder with claw-tooth blades and magnetic separation, that step disappeared. Throughput doubled; labor on the feed line dropped 60%.

A biomass supplier in Europe needed to process mixed forest residue into boiler-grade chips at a consistent size. The SL-1600 was installed with an extended output conveyor feeding directly into covered storage. Output has met spec since day one — no sorting required.

This type of commercial wood grinding equipment is currently running in sawmills, recycling yards, paper mills, and biomass plants in many countries.

After-Sale Support

Every industrial wood shredder we supply comes with a 12-month component warranty, fast-dispatch spare parts (blades, screens, roller liners), and remote PLC diagnostics that reduce on-site call-outs. On-site commissioning and operator training are included. For customers building a complete processing line, our technical team can scope the full layout — raw infeed through chipping, screening, and drying — before you sign anything.

Looking for the right model? Share your material type, target throughput, and output requirement. We’ll respond with a configuration and quote within 24 hours. In addition to our multi-purpose shredders, we offer a range of other wood recycling equipment for you to choose from.
